Celebrate Juneteenth with Knowledge, Access, and Action
One year ago, I launched Equity Builds Expertise on Juneteenth.
That choice was intentional.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, but it is also a reminder that freedom has always been connected to access. Access to truth. Access to language. Access to education. Access to the ability to read, write, question, teach, lead, and pass knowledge forward.
For me, launching Equity Builds Expertise on Juneteenth was about honoring that connection.
Because when educators have better tools, students get better opportunities. When teachers understand how expertise is built, more students get seen as capable. When we shift the systems, routines, feedback, and grading practices that quietly sort students, we create more room for students to grow into the thinkers, problem-solvers, and leaders they were meant to become.
That is why I want this work in the hands of as many educators as possible. Not because one book changes everything. But because one book can change a question. One question can change a practice. One practice can change what a student believes is possible for themselves.
Anniversary Bundle Offer
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Equity Builds Expertise, I’m offering a special Juneteenth bundle while current inventory lasts:
Get both:  Equity Builds Expertise: 9 Strategies for STEM Teachers to Reach All Students and Equitable Grading in STEM: A 30-Day Transformational Planner for 20% off. That’s $30 for both books!
Together, these resources give educators both the mindset and the practical planning space to reflect, redesign, and prepare for meaningful shifts in the new school year.
This bundle makes a thoughtful gift for:
- A colleague who is always trying to get better
- Your child’s STEM teacher
- A father, mentor, or educator for Father’s Day
- Your school team or department
- Or yourself, as a Juneteenth gift of support, reflection, and renewal
Why This Matters
So many educators care deeply about students but are working inside systems that were not designed for every student to thrive.
These books offer a way to pause and ask better questions:
Who gets recognized as capable?
Whose thinking gets developed?
Whose mistakes are treated as learning?
Whose growth is made visible?
Whose access to expertise are we expanding?
That is the work.
And it matters because students deserve classrooms where their brilliance is not treated as surprising, their growth is not left to chance, and their access to deep learning is not dependent on already knowing how to play the game.
Give the Gift of Access
Juneteenth reminds us that knowledge has always been part of freedom.
Reading, writing, teaching, learning, and sharing what helps us grow are not small acts. They are acts of care. They are acts of possibility. They are acts of responsibility.
This anniversary bundle is an invitation to celebrate that legacy by investing in the educators who help shape what students believe they can become.
