I'm Shana

I have been leading in education for over 30 years. I started my educational career in Secondary teaching, and have broadened my experience to include the following roles: MS and HS Science Department Chair, HS Testing Coordinator, Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, and High School Principal. I spent the majority of that time supporting teachers and leaders at Uncommon Schools.  Through my service in multiple roles in the education space, I have been able to develop internal org-wide programs, lead instruction, and work with the modification of systems, practices, and materials in order to ensure that Uncommon continues its work serving all its students and families through its mission to see our students "to and through college".  My adjunct work with Relay Graduate School of Education, enabled me to continue this work in training educators across the nation in instructional strategies and practices which serve all students.  In 2022, I formed See Different Consulting, LLC as a way to combine my love and expertise in literacy with my love and expertise in science.  The merging of teaching transferable literacy skills in STEM content areas is See Different Consulting's framework for STEM teachers to build true expertise of STEM content within their students.  Creating a world where more students not only believe in their own abilities to pursue STEM carriers, but also succeed and become role-models for others in their STEM carriers is my life-long passion.  Come join me!
